MONTHLY MAINTENANCE: JUNE

If you follow us on social media, you know that we share monthly home maintenance tips. There are little things you can do each month to stay on top of your home’s health so that you’re not hit all at once with a huge (and at times costly) issue! It’s totally OK if you don’t follow along each month or get to everything. However, at least every 6 months you should check in on the health of your home.

For those of you who’ve been following along, we’ll start with the monthly items. For the kids in the back of the class (ahem, guilty 🙋‍♀️) you can skip down to the bigger, bi-annual and annual tasks.

Monthly Maintenance: JUNE

+Clean Garbage Disposal

+Clean Dishwasher Drain Bin

+Clean Aerators on Faucets

+Remove Lint from Dryer Exhaust Vent

+Power-Wash Windows & Siding

+Examine, Repair, and Paint Fences

Now, the “bigger” items you should definitely be checking AT LEAST every 6 months…

+Test Smoke & CO2 Detectors (and change batteries as needed!)

**OK, technically it’s like every 3 months you should be doing this but like I said, at least every 6 months!

+Clear Outdoor A/C Unit Grills + Coils of Debris

+Clear Gutters of Debris

+Change the Furnace Filter(s)

+Check Water Softener, Add Salt If Needed

+Vacuum Behind Refrigerator and Clean Coils

+Check for Leaks: Fall - Roof, Spring - Basement/Crawl

+HVAC Tune-ups

Things you should probably do annually…

+Have Carpets Cleaned

+Have Water Heater Inspected and Flushed

+Have Septic Tank Pumped (if applicable)

As always, we’re here if you need a referral or recommendation for someone else to do the work for you! We have an amazing library of vendors that we like to call The Home Team. Just ask and we’ll get you in touch.

I probably should tell you that I am an FPG agent and our Social Media Coordinator. I’m a boy mom for life and constantly chasing messes (when I’m not breaking up fights!) and truly love serving my community by way of real estate. I get to meet and help so many amazing people around town! It has been an awesome career. Now as the brokerage’s Social Media Coordinator, I get to brag about how awesome our city and people are. Win-win.

My husband and I were referred to FPG when we returned home to Indiana. I was drawn to their way of doing business and when I was offered an opportunity to join them the choice was easy! If you’re thinking of a career in real estate, or one with Ferris Property Group, we’d love to talk.
